Easter Week (Holy Week), Pampanga, Philippines - Photographs

Easter Week, Holy Week, Semana Santa is, by any moniker, a strange event in the Pampanga province of the Philippines.  Some people are voluntarily nailed to crosses in a recreation of Golgotha and others repeatedly beat open wounds on their own backs in order to draw blood.  A few of the particularly 'touched' people choose to do both.  It's a great spectacle but the blood really flies.  I had a shirt and a pair of shorts ruined by excess exposure to the vital fluid of the penitents.
